François Galissaires, known as Paco, has a very distinctive way of working, which makes this week particularly interesting.
He works on the wheel, often deforming the pieces afterwards. He transforms them into boxes with flaps and lids, adding refined decorations using stamps, small wheels, and incisions. His approach is completely “out of the box”.
His fascinating way of working, inspired by the Bauhaus style, results in highly original designs. The use of slips and engobes develop the colours and character of the pieces through the soda firing, bringing out unique properties.

Paco is one of the few ceramists who has mastered the technique of soda firing and is a well-known name in the ceramics world. As he does not teach on a large scale, it is a great honour for us to include him in our programme.

Frank will also be present in the background throughout the week, offering support with Paco’s course and during the soda firing. His experience and knowledge will help ensure that the firing process runs smoothly.
This is a unique opportunity to learn from a highly individual and accomplished ceramic artist, while experiencing the fascinating process of soda firing at La Plaine.
