Susanne Lukács-Ringel has many years of experience working with both porcelain and stoneware. Her work is mainly functional and includes teapots, cups, bowls, jugs and other everyday objects. She works both on the wheel and with slabs, and often combines the two techniques. A special part of her work is the way she decorates her pots. She uses sgraffito and stamps to add simple but strong patterns and details to the surface. Her pots are wood and salt fired, which gives them a natural and often slightly unpredictable finish.

Susanne finds much of her inspiration in the nature around her studio in the Schwäbische Alb. At the same time, she has a strong interest in ceramics from Japan, China and Korea. Both historical and contemporary work from these countries have influenced the way she thinks about shape and decoration.

During the course, you will have the chance to work with both porcelain and high-quality stoneware clay from Frank. Susanne will show you different techniques through demonstrations and will guide you through the different stages of making, from forming and decorating to getting your work ready for wood and salt firing.
